Now this is a proper set of tips for setting oneself on the right track. Simple, actionable, and proven to work in no small part by the fact that all of us have acted on these in some way. Your list nicely covers most of the little decisions we need to make every day regarding how's, when's, and what's of finding our audience here.
That said, the most important point of yours to remember is this: growth on the fiction side of things is a slow burn. You're not likely to see explosive success overnight, so don't give up just because it's taking a while. Exceptions exist, but they're just that.
Katherine, Thanks for helpful tips — from one who has found the onslaught of to how to “succeed on Substack” posts off-putting, especially implicit assumption quantitative metrics is the most importantly measure!
Also, congratulations on your book publication💪🏻♥️
Great advice, Kathrine! I always enjoy reading what you write. I’ve fallen off posting and participating on Substack lately due to some life upsets, but reading this is motivating me to reorganize so I can jump back in and reconnect with readers and writers here. It’s such a nice place for sharing our work, I like to think. Congratulations on your book! You know that I’m so happy for you on that front. 💜
I tried to tag you just now, but I guess it doesn't work in comments. I just tried out Miguel S's micro-story challenge for today ( https://fictiondealer.substack.com/p/microdosing-50mg-of-suffocation ). Thank you for pointing it out, it was fun! It could become a habit... 😎
I did, I left it in the comments section of Microdosing. I'll dm it to you. 😉 (edited: I did NOT mean to say, "I'll do it to you." Sonetimes I see mortifying typos when I read over what I've posted! 😬)
Oh, I knew I’d forget something! I should’ve mentioned, tagging works in posts and Notes, but not in post comments. I’m not sure about the chat threads.
Wow! That’s great! Keep ‘em comin! Many of my stories had come from these flash fiction themes.👍

Aw, thank you Dave!🩶
Thanks for sharing. I'm doing some of the tips already but not all, so will definitely add these to my tool kit.
Yes! “Embrace the weird!” My own personal motto.
Great list, Kathrine, thanks for sharing this.
Good advice. I will have to decide how much I wish to incorporate.

Thank you, Kathrine, lots of useful advice! And cheers from another non-English native-speaking writer😊

Thanks for the advice. I really should focus on improving my content but it’s hard not to become obsessed with increasing the subscriber numbers up.
Quality not quantity.

Oh, I must’ve gotten something wrong. I thought you wrote a flash fiction, but I couldn’t find it . ☺️ I’d love to read your piece.

Weird is the new cool, I like it! So I'm cool, at last? 😂
Always.🩶 I mean a person who rescues a moth and takes care of it through the winter cannot be un-cool.😎🦋
Aw, thank you!

Well said, Katherine...and you were well behaved! I will happily restack for you, and pass it along.
