The worst ones are the ones who vent their political spleens. They don't realize that this isn't an exclusively American platform and those outside of the U.S. openly dislike their biased bullshit.
I think all platforms have such which is why I have only really limited myself to the stack. As a downside, I tend to get surprised with some behaviour. But being civil, I chose to not engage unless they get to a point. It's easy for many to act this way when you sit behind a screen after all.
It's not a personal quirk you have; NO ONE likes whiny men. While negativity is unavoidable due to the human condition, the best we can do is be the positivity in our own life and hope it attracts other positive people. All in all, I'd say this platform is a very positive experience. Great post!
It takes someone being overtly unnecessarily rude to me directly for literally no reason, to “retaliate”, if you will. My vocabulary that rivals WEBSTERS, so I choose or create whatever words I wish. That’s not why I don’t “carry on a civil conversation”. They proved themselves incapable by unnecessarily insulting my intelligence without so much as checking my profile out.
You can edit replies on mobile via a browser. You can't if using the app. Don't know why that functionality isn't there in the app when the desktop and mobile browser versions allow it, but it is what it is.
This comment is EDITABLE! On my iPad! Just thought I’d try it and it worked! Very very strange…it’s the last comment on the thread, maybe that is a factor 🤷🏼♂️
Misinterpretation is often most revealing about the character of the reader who misinterprets. In my experience the most common reason for misinterpretation is the inability to separate the self from the essay they just read.
I posted a comment on a publication—I made it an articulated post, my “customer service voice”. Someone responded to my post literally “mansplaining” my post. So I retaliated since he said he claimed he got some degrees while in his 8 years of army service so I started giving him shit as a female veteran who is retired from the Army. I may have went into military DGAF mode. I was blocked so fast for saying mansplaining…I even agreed with the publication!? Then I got some weird note tag saying I’m a demon? How do I stay off that side!? I’m studying philosophy and this is weird.

Besides, there is more to life than the stack.

“Because it’s not right to put up with rude behavior”
Hear! Hear!
That is precisely it. We do wrong to ourselves and to our polity at large when mannerless behavior succeeds in passing for normal.

Couldn’t agree more. A perfect summation of the clowns, monkeys, morons and psychopathic mongrols that exist on here. Hooray too you Katherine.
You forgot about the thumb suckers and bedwetters.

Seems you can’t edit the replies. Remove the word “that” from the second sentence.

SEE? I just edited it!
And I didn’t know that! Thanks for the information. I am almost always on tablet or phone. I don’t think I ever use the computer. But thank you 🙏🏻
This one TOO. Edited with no hitches.
Good for you for calling out rudeness.

Your substack wins the internet. :) Love it!
I like the frogs. Oh, yeah, and the article. It is sad that people write things into this virtual world that they would never say face to face.
Great! I especially love the term, "Substackinator."
Substack. Instagram. FB. X. Medium. The pub near my house. People are like that. Walk away, Kathrine, and don't play their game.
And if you didn't hear that, people, ...it was the sound of a mic drop!
And by the way, Kathrine, I learnt a new word!!! Jerkette! I'll be using that one on a daily basis! Love it!
Dull potato peelers are perfect for dissection of trolls.
Rock on milady!
Girl, I hear you. People suck.

Rant on , dear Kathrine. You have plenty of company, I do it too, in a different way. W. E. W.
