Your vampire story is shaping up nicely. Miro has grown up a lot since his first introduction as a literal lady-slayer. I absolutely LOVED today's snippet! Vampire humor, who would have thought of that? (you, of course! 😎) I agree with MaKenna Grace, this would be a fantastic book. I like the Umbrella piece as well. I'm looking forward to all of next week's posts, even your possible rant! Have a great week! 💜

Thank you!🩶

I have to find time to really write the book, not just play around with short snippets. I’m glad I found a way to explain how Miro survived! Did I share that snipped?😅

I'm not sure, please remind me? Just keep in mind, a lot of short snippets can eventually grow into a book! 😉

It hasn’t been edited properly, so it will contain typos (the story ended with Lisa thinking Miro took the acid bath to kill himself):

Miro woke up from an unusual sensation. His whole being felt like a clump of pain, from skin to bone, to head… oh the headache was the worst of all! Had he been sleeping? He hadn’t slept for four hundred years! He didn’t need to. Miro sat up. The space around him was dark, warm and unstable; it swung up and down. Miro could describe it as a womb… was he in some kind of a state of rebirth? Last thing he remembered was the acidic stench of his ‘clean up herbs’.

“‘Morning, Miro! ‘Bout time you woke up!” a familiar voice greeted him.

“Pauley?!” Miro exclaimed. The last person he expected to meet in the underworld was his favourite bartender! Miro didn’t need the light, his vision was still good enough to see in the dark. So may it be…?

“Yep! You’re still alive!” Pauley said cheerfully, “though you had planned quite an exit! To die for love… ain’t it grand?!”

“Is this hell?”

“Not yet! As I said - you’re alive. I made it in the last minute.”

“Paul, what’s going on here?!”

“For a four-hundred-year old dude you’re pretty thick,” Pauley grinned, then gave a heavy sigh, “do you actually remember taking that bath?”

Miro could not. He recalled dumping all the herbs and all his stuff, the bag, the clothing, everything into the acidic water, then he watched it dissolve. He grabbed onto the side of the bath and inhaled. The sour stench burned his nostrils. He had been avoiding death for hundreds of years. Now he’s giving his immortal beauty up for a woman? No, not just any woman. A divine creature with the purest soul. She deserved a fulfilled life, a family, that trip to Paris and around the wo…

Miro couldn’t remember what he did next. Everything had gone dark until the moment he woke up next to Pauley.

“How…?”

“I had to improvise. I got in through the window, but that was the easy part. The candle stick I wacked you with was silver-plated. Damn, that burned!” Pauley showed his burned palms, “then I emptied the bath. It’s better your Lisa thinks you’re dead.”

“You burned your hands with silver?”

“Well, duh! I’m surprised you never figured out what I am. How long have you known me? Ten years? Fifteen? Did I age a day?”

Miro had never paid much attention to Pauley’s looks.

“Where am I? Have you been sent by them?!”

“The Luna Ortus? You think you’d be alive now if I was one of those motherfuckers?!” Pauley chuckled, “no, my friend! Don’t sweat! You’re in good hands. Welcome to Eurydice org. Our yacht, to be precise, and you’re going to the big boss. Styx wants to see you in person.” Pauley’s eyes squinted in a cheeky smirk.

Hah! Pauley is an awesome character! I somehow missed this snippet (or maybe it was never posted?). The last thing I read about Miro was when he "died" in the acid bath. Nice save, Kathrine! 😂 Thank you for the bonus snippet!
