Your wonderful story is now out on the podcast. I am letting all of my writers know that as of this week, this podcast/audio book has now exceeded over a thousand downloads in Substack and thousands more across other applications, most notably Spotify and it's subsidiaries, around the world. I couldn't do it without you. Thank you.
Joseph Wiess recommended that I read this and I am glad he did. Would you allow me to read this for my podcast in a couple of weeks? I produce a podcast where I read short fictional stories from writers, and add sound effects to make the stories sound better to a listening audience. This is strictly an audio podcast that comes out every Friday. Look for Crann na beatha Stories and Poetry here on Substack, my web page at www.crann-na-beatha.com, or any mobile app. Each show is approximately thirty minutes long. If you have or plan to write more like this, let me know I will read them also.
Wow, that would be fantastic! Thank you! I have 7 short chapters here on Substack, I’m releasing a chapter every Friday, so there should be more in a couple of weeks. If you need a longer story, my SciFi story “The Expedition” (6k words approx) is also happening in the same universe as The Gravediggers. But it’s a romance, so… just a suggestion. Anyway, thank you and good luck! I’ll add the link to The Expedition, but just ignore it if you don’t like it. The Gravedigger story is more interesting.
I will take a look this weekend and let you know what I think. What I look for is readability and can I add in sound effects without detracting from the story itself. If it is too long, I have trouble maintaining listener interest. I can do serialized chapters. I am nearly through one right now. Again, I will look and let you know which will work best and let you know. Thank you.
Have you thought about expanding this? i.e. what happened next? Don't fret about not being a tech person. Really, really hard sci-fi like that can get a bit tedious. Remember, real toads in imaginary gardens. Consider The Martian. Super techy and detailed, right? Some say that's what made it cool. And I would agree. But some people HATED it. Like my mom. Which I understood.
Yes, I have some ideas. I might be writing and sharing the story as a series of flash fiction pieces, on Sci-Fridays. I have one longer Sci-fi story, happening in the same universe. If you want, you can check it out (and see all the terrible ways I screwed up writing tech stuff 😅) or don’t read it, if you don’t feel like it.
Thank you... I’m always shy to use technical terms, I’m tech stupid, and Sci-Fi is all about futuristic technologies, that’s why I don’t feel confident writing this. Though it still was fun.

Thank you so much! It sounds really good! Thank you for doing this.🩶
I found it through youtube, would it be okay with you if I shared it here on Substack, in my Notes?
Absolutely. That is what that is for. I want everyone to share it with the world.

Yes, of course. Add the sound effects. Have a good weekend!
I like it. Two quick notes.
1. Rewarding is spelled wrong in the second to last paragraph
2. When you edit that one, you should drop a link at the end for Part 2
Thank you!🩶 I’ll have to fix that.

Cool! very, very cool!
Wow Kathrine, that is a great piece of Sci-Fi. Never again say that it’s not your forte! Well done. 👏👏👏

Well, don’t hide your light under a bushel, Kathrine. I’ve often read your work and thought I could never word it like you do.
And this was fine!
Black Knight writes lots of Sci-Fi, and he likes it, so write some more in this style 💙
Definitely creative! Also, you manage a lot in a small amount of text.
You write some interesting pieces that I would have never thought that anyone 'thought' about things like this.
Good works!
I liked it :)
I really like this little story. Nicely done! Thanks for sharing.
Thank you so much!🩶
