If this is you feeling uncomfortable with sci-fi, then I am going to start saving up mega bucks for when you feel comfortable with it - because those books will be going right into the top of my SF shelf. Keep it up!
I thought I wrote a comment, but I don't see it, so this may be something of a duplicate. Just read the first installment. You don't sound silly. Just enough information to grab my attention, and enough left unknown to make me want to know more. The last sentence is effective, hinting that things may not be what they seem. I like it. As I got here from the 17th installment I see you kept going. It's good.
PS, I like the episode or chapter links at the top. Makes for easy navigation. Nice.
Thank you. It means a lot. Sci-fi is something out of my comfort zone, because I’m a tech stupid girlie girl.☺️ I should make an index page for easier navigation, but I’m currently writing this story, I don’t know how many chapters it will take to finish it. Plus, I plan this as a novel in 3 parts. The first one “The Gravediggers of Orpheus” is done.
Just a quick aside, as I went through four in a row. For someone like me just coming to the series, a "Next" button at the end of each episode would be great. Kind of a pain, because you have to remember to put the link in after you write the next episode. And at this point painful to go back to all 16 and add that. So, really just a thought for next series.
At the bottom of mine I have
Previous | Next
Previous of course links to the previous episode. And I just leave the Next as plain text until I post the next episode. Then I go in and update the link when the next episode drops.
But I like the idea of an easy jump backwards link up at the top, so I am going to steal that idea.
Don't worry about being tech stupid. It's really just about the story. Science fiction needs to have consistency in the technology rather than be super plausible technology. And, you don't have to explain much. You will notice nobody in a Western pulls their gun and then explains how gun powder works. There is a certain agreed suspension of belief regarding some technological aspect, but then, if you don't stay consistent in the application, people will squawk. Like if someone pulls the same pistol each time, but the next time the pull it the thing shoots mini hand grenades, well...
This is illuminated with gorgeous imagery. If you don’t feel sci-fi tech is home world for you, maybe expressing it through your gift for poetics might be something to try. Would another culture on another planet use the term we use on earth for things such as “biomechanics”? Let your imagination sing.

Thank you so much!🩶 Yeah, I’m a bit tech stupid, that’s why writing Sci-fi scares me.
I needed this. My previous Sci-fi story, a novelette The Gravediggers of Orpheus was rejected by a publisher just yesterday. 😭
That publisher is an idiot. I wish I were a publisher, I'd buy Gravediggers.
I'm sorry. But don't give up!
I would definitely like more, Kath, if you would be motivated to keep going!
Thank you! I think I’ll keep writing it.
This definitely has my attention. I love the concept!
Thanks 🩶

It's a good read and I'll keep reading.
This is honestly really good!
Thank you 🩶
Continue, please. 🙂
I am. ☺️ Here’s a link to part 2. I posted part 3 today.

Love this- really draws the reader into the world!
Thank you 🩶
Promising. I would keep playing with it.
Thank you. I’ll do it!🩶
Reminded me of Instruments of War, wherein the soldiers upon death were reanimated and controlled by an AI of sorts. All in all pretty cool.
Thanks. I haven’t read that one.

You should carry this on, it doesn't read silly. It reads great.
I really enjoyed the pace. It was quick and edgy. Congrats on getting the first one out there!
You know me... If it's Sci-Fi, I'll read it. And my interest is definitely piqued... This in the same universe as 'Gravediggers...'?
Yep. A bit later on the timeline though. 🙂
Nice…
Keep it up. Who knows, maybe someday, you will be a famous author, like Ursula K. Le Guin or C.J. Cherryh
Oh wow, thank you.🩶
This is very good. I understand there’s also a series of sorts, the Gravediggers of Orpheus?
Thank you.
This story is taking place in the same universe. The two story lines will be connected, but they should work as stand-alones.
The Gravediggers of Orpheus is a serialised novelette I shared on Substack.

You have great vision in your writing - don't get struck blind by a grenade.
Thanks!😅
