I love the snippets of lore here, they do a lot to further flesh out the details of the Lake Autumna region we got in the prior handful of stories. That does come with a bit of a strange feeling in that the narrative reads like this would be the first book in the series when it's clearly not, but that's simply an effect of this being the first written for it and doesn't take away from how engaging this is. The pacing is strong, the characters interesting, and the stakes and lore kept me hooked. I've always looked forward to the stories you've set in this world, but this has me feeling about as excited for the next entry as "The Last Daughter of Wolves" did, which is still my favorite of your stories.
